President of the Somali Federal Government Hassan Sheikh Mohamud has sent his condolences to Israel over the passing of former President Shimon Peres, A Villa Somalia official told Faaqidaad.
“On behalf of the people of Somalia and on my own behalf, I would like to express our condolences over the passing of former President Shimon Peres,” President Mohamud told Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu by Phone.
President Mohamoud and Israel’s PM Netanyahu spoke each later in the Wednesday afternoon, according to Villa Somalia Official who asked not to be named.
PM Netanyahu thanked Mohamud for his condolence and promised that he would support his fight against the extremists.
Former Israeli President Shimon Peres as admitted in Tel Hashomer Hospital in Ramat Gan where he died Wednesday at the age of 93. Mr. Peres suffered a stroke two weeks ago.
Obama, Hollande,Merkel and Ban ki-moon joined some 60 other world leaders, ministers, and dignitaries for Peres’s funeral in Jerusalem.
The Somali Nation never had diplomatic relations with Israel but Mr. Mohamud opened a relationship with the government of Netanyahu.
